Ghana Football Association Vice President Mark Addo says work is ongoing behind the scenes to secure a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League. The league has been without a title sponsor since the 2022/23 season. (Scroll down to watch video)
Speaking at the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress ahead of the new league season, Addo admitted that the GPL currently does not have a headline sponsor but insisted that efforts are being made to find the right partner.
“So even though we may not necessarily have a headline sponsor, there are other things going on there for you to see the benefits that the teams are currently enjoying,” Addo said.
“I’m not going to stand here and tell you that we have one tomorrow, but I can tell you for a fact that work continues every day in trying to find the right sponsor and the right fit for the GPL.”
Addo also pointed to other initiatives being introduced by the GFA to improve the value and visibility of the league.

He revealed that clubs are now receiving financial support ahead of the start of the season, while the association has also increased its live television coverage of matches.
“There’s a lot of things coming up, you can see. But with the GPL, you notice that for the first time, each collaboration is even like one million cedis towards before the league starts. That’s unheard of,” he added.
“And then it comes with production. Last year we produced about 68 live games and hundreds of other delayed games.”
The GFA vice president said the association’s marketing department will continue to pursue commercial opportunities while ensuring that any future headline sponsor is the right fit for the league.
“But overall, I think the marketing department in the FA continues to work all the time. And as more sponsors come in, we will definitely make sure the GPL is our best product,” he said.

“We have to also make sure that we have the right fit in terms of the right sponsor.”
