Hundreds of Asante Kotoko fans gathered last night at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for a vigil in honour of the late Nana Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, a devoted supporter of the club.

Some Asante Kotoko fans, along with team officials, including Head Coach Narteh Ogum and some players attended a vigil in honour of the late Nana Polley.

The event took place exactly a week after Nana Frimpong’s tragic death, following a stabbing incident at the Nana Kronmansah II Stadium in Nsoatre during the Ghana Premier League (GPL) matchday 19 fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.

The vigil brought together Kotoko fans and some supporters of rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, who joined in paying their respects and demanding justice for Nana Frimpong’s family.

Kotoko’s management and playing body, led by head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, were in attendance.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has condemned the incident and pledged to collaborate with the police to ensure the perpetrators face justice.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko has suspended all football activities until justice is served.
