The University of Ghana Corporate Football League has received a major boost with Glico General Insurance announcing a GHC 1 million insurance package during the league’s launch event at the VIP Lounge of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium yesterday.

This comprehensive coverage will safeguard both players and fans throughout the 20-week tournament.

The highly anticipated league will feature 18 corporate teams, including Stanbic Bank Ghana, Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club, Media General Network, Forestry Commission, and Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. These organizations will compete in a league format, with the ultimate goal of claiming the championship title.

The insurance package reinforces Glico General’s commitment to corporate sports, ensuring medical protection for players, injury coverage, and overall safety for all participants and spectators.

Speaking at the launch, Andrew Achampong-Kyei, Managing Director of Glico General Insurance, emphasized the company’s dedication to creating a secure and competitive football environment.

“Football is a sport that brings people together, but it also carries risks. Our GHC 1 million insurance package is designed to give players and fans the confidence to enjoy the game, knowing they are protected.”

With the tournament officially launched, the season opener is set for Friday, February 21, 2025. Defending champions Union Ghana will kick off their title defense against the College of Humanities, with four matches scheduled on the opening day.
