Asante Kotoko resumed training today, Feb 19, at the Adako Jachie, following the suspension of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) due to a tragic incident involving a staunch fan of the club, Nana Polley
Head coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum led the session as the team worked to maintain peak fitness ahead of the league’s resumption.
A total of 20 players took part in full training, including key names like Fredrick Asare, Mohammed Camara, Fatao Siedu, and Benjamin Twum.

Meanwhile, Samba O’Neil, Wisdom Fernando, Peter Amidu Acquah, Lord Amoah, and Kwesi Asante were present but did not participate in training.
The Porcupines will continue their preparations until the GPL resumes, ensuring the squad is in top condition for the competition’s restart.
The league was suspended following the unfortunate passing of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, during Asante Kotoko’s matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Kronmansah Park in Nsoatre.
Earlier on Tuesday, Asante Kotoko issued a statement reaffirming their stance of not participating in any football-related activities in Ghana. The club maintained its position as it awaits further engagements. Meanwhile, GFA President Kurt Okraku is scheduled to meet the team in Kumasi on Thursday.
