In response to President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama’s directive on restrictive travel, Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that if an event requires athletes to travel, they will do so as long as they clear the necessary protocols.

He said this in a media session after getting officially sworn in as Minister of Sports and Recreation where he added that he has the support of President Mahama 24/7. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

During the swearing in of recently appointed ministers, President Mahama directed the appointees to observe restrictive travel during their time of service and Kofi Adams is looking to do same in the sector.

“It is not a ban. I think it is restrictive travel, only critical travel so if sports demands that you have to travel, that’s critical travel.”

Ghana President John Mahama

“If you have to (travel), you have to. You have to engage with the federations, you have to engage with the embassies both here and out to be able to draw in support for your country. If it’s critical and it’s necessary, you would have to travel.”
