Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Nana Oduro Sarfo, has stated the reason for GFA President Kurt Okraku’s shocking absence at high profile meetings held since the fallout from the violent clashes witnessed at Nsoatreman FC’s game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
Oduro Sarfo made this known during a high profile meeting between GFA Executive Council members, Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and Kotoko’s top brass.
The violent clashes led to popular Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong’s death after he was stabbed. At the time of writing, six people have been arrested in connection to the stabbing incident.
In the meeting, Kotoko Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra Awuah, blasted the GFA and GHALCA for not consulting the Porcupine Warriors first before setting up meetings with other football stakeholders despite Kotoko being the affected party. In the face of the series of interviews that have been held since Pooley’s death, GFA President Kurt Okraku has been conspicuously absent and Oduro Sarfo highlighted the reason for this stating,

“Kurt is unwell and he isn’t in the country at the moment. Kurt isn’t feeling well; had he been well, he would have been the first person to come to Kotoko. He (Kurt) isn’t feeling well. When he gets better and returns to Ghana, you will see him here in the precinct of Kotoko.”
