More Collaboration between GFA, Clubs, Ghana Police highlight ENHANCED Security Protocols for GPL

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) via its Executive Council, has agreed to a set of enhanced security and safety protocols for the Ghana Premier League.

The set of protocols were agreed to after a high profile meeting between Ghana’s football most powerful body and representatives from the 18 clubs competing in the 2024-2025 Ghana League.

Competition in the present campaign is on hold with a return ate yet to be determined since violent clashes marred the Week 19 matchup between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

The clashes led to the death of popular Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong; Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra Awuah slammed the actions of the GFA over the handling of the issue.

Despite the enormity of the slain Kotoko fan, GFA President Kurt Okraku has been conspicuously absent from the bevy of meetings held involving Ghana football stakeholders.

GFA Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo explained in a meeting with Kotoko that Kurt Okraku isn’t well and is out of the country. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In the enhanced security protocols, the parties agreed that each club’s security and safety official would be tasked with ensuring their safety.

It was also agreed that the Ghana Police Service would appoint a Regional Sports Security Officer to handle issues on league games in the regions.
