Sports and Recreation Minister- Kofi Adams

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that the sports sector in Ghana is underfunded and there is a lot that needs to be done to correct this.

He reveled this while making the call to reverse the funding challenges of the sector during a media session after getting sworn in as Sports Minister by President John Dramani Mahama.

While accepting the scroll that made him officially the man to replace Mustapha Ussif as Sports Minister, Kofi Adams added that President Mahama has assured him of his “24/7 support” but made it clear that the sector had major issues that needed fixing. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Sports has been under funded so infrastructure has been poor, there’s been a lot of complains of corruption. Ghanaians are not happy about what we’ve done to the other sports, even in terms of football, we have focused more on just the Black Stars and so there is a lot to be done in that area.”

Ghana President John Mahama

Kofi Adams takes over as Sports Minister at a time where the country’s top flight football division witnessed a football fan getting stabbed to death at a league game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

With a heavy heart , we announce the untimely demise of our beloved supporter, Frimpong Yaw Francis, whose life was taken by some hooligans at the Nsoatre Park during our #GOLM19 game against Nsoatreman F.C

Our deepest condolences to the family. pic.twitter.com/1jl2RqURj2
