Decathlon Ghana has officially signed a new partnership agreement with Okwawu United, set to boost the club’s ongoing campaign in Division One and strengthen youth football development within the club.

The one-season agreement, which is subject to annual renewal, was signed by Geoffrey Fadoul, Head of Country Relations for Decathlon, and Nana Kwame Dankwah, General Manager of Okwawu United. The deal includes a provision of sporting equipment and technical support from Decathlon to the club.

In return, Okwawu United will offer brand visibility to Decathlon through jersey branding and joint initiatives aimed at empowering young local players and developing grassroots football.

Usually, our partnerships are very precise,” said Geoffrey Fadoul at the signing event.

But with Okwawu United, we were drawn to their strong involvement with the youth.

That was the key reason we decided to partner with them.

Fadoul also clarified that while the agreement runs on a seasonal basis, it is designed for long-term collaboration and will be automatically renewed every year unless stated otherwise.

Just like our partnership with the national team—the Black Stars—which we have been in contract with  for six years is built on renewal. Unless there’s a reason not to, it continues each season.

This partnership comes at a crucial time for Okwawu United, who currently sit 5th on the Division One League table with nine matches to be played.

The backing from a globally recognized brand like Decathlon serves as a major morale booster and could play a pivotal role in their push for promotion.

Okwawu United, a historic club with a passionate fan base and strong roots in the Eastern Region, has over the years, focused on nurturing young talent. With this agreement, the club is poised to take its youth development programs to the next level.

All I expect from them is to keep doing what they do best—supporting the youth, inspiring them, and helping them achieve their dreams. Fadoul concluded
