Ghana winger Ernest Nuamah has matched his goal tally from the previous season by scoring in Olympique Lyon’s 2-0 win over OG Nice in the French Ligue 1.
The win over Nice moves Lyon to sixth place in the league standings and continues a fine run for the club and Nuamah under recently appointed head coach Paulo Fonseca.
Nuamah curled in a long range strike in the 83rd minute to increase Lyon’s lead after Rayan Cherki scored in the 78th minute. Nuamah played 24 minutes after coming off the bench.
Scoring against Nice improves the 21 year old Black Stars player’s league goals to three in 20 Ligue 1 appearances in the season. In the 2023-2024 campaign, Nuamah bagged three goals and two assists in 29 appearances; Nuamah has an assist this campaign.

Nuamah’s improved form has had him score twice and bag an assist in Lyon’s last two away games and puts him in strong contention to be named in the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 respectively.
