Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere-Duah, is calling for support for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, ahead of a crucial double-header in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars take on Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium and Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco as the team bids to qualify to the next World Cup that will be co-hosted by the US, Mexico and Canada next year.
However, the Black Stars head into the upcoming games with a ton of apathy from supporters after recent failures including missing out on qualifying to the 2025 AFCON but the Member of Parliament for Berekum West believes this is the time for Ghanaians to rally behind the team after visiting the team’s training session.
“This is a national call and every Ghanaian has the responsibility to support the course of Black Stars to qualify for USA, Canada and Mexico. At this point…all hands must be on board. This permeates beyond every political boundary, it permeates beyond affiliations, it’s a national course.”

“That’s why I’m excited to see the likes of Asamoah Gyan all being part of the preparations towards this important game. Stephen Appiah is here, the (Sports) Minister himself has been here…everybody appears to be playing their bit to ensure that we get to the US, Canada and Mexico” he said in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.
