President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is boisterous about the Black Stars chances to redeem themselves from the ignominy of failing to qualify to the 2025 AFCON by excelling in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He said this when he visited the team’s training session ahead of crucial ties against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 respectively in the race to qualify to compete at the next World Cup that will be co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

Black Stars legends, Stephen Appiah, and Asamoah Gyan, were part of a high level entourage that included GFA President Kurt Okraku, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, and Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Dr. Randy Abbey, that visited the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana failed to qualify to the 2025 AFCON to be played later this year but President Mahama believes that the team will redeem itself from the embarrassment by succeeding in the World Cup qualifiers.

“Let’s put the AFCON debacle behind us and let’s look forward and know that we can redeem ourselves. I know that in the World Cup qualifiers, you are going to redeem yourselves…I know you can do it; I mean you are all talented players. We are going to continue to support you not only for the World Cup but beyond…and I’m sure that by the grace of God, we will find ourselves in the US” President Mahama said.
