President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has stated that Ghana still has belief in the country’s National Men’s Football Team to find glory again.
He said this in his speech delivered when he visited the Black Stars at a training session on Wednesday, March 19 ahead of the team’s crucial ties in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana takes on Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and March 24 respectively with the game against Chad set to be hosted at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking as the representative of the Republic of Ghana, President John Mahama, lamented the Black Stars’ early losses at the 2021 and 2023 AFCON editions and the team’s failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON but was still hopeful of better days for the team.

“I am here on behalf of all Ghanaians as the President of the Republic to just cheer you on and encourage you. Ghanaians have had their hearts broken by the fact that we didn’t qualify for the AFCON. We haven’t given up on you. We still believe that the Black Stars can find its glory again and it’s dependent on you.”

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku were present at the training session. Ghana is seeking to qualify to compete at the World Cup for the fifth time.
