Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has pledged to promote the development of African football after getting elected to the CAF Executive Council.

Africa’s football governing body, CAF, held its Extraordinary Congress earlier this week in an event headlined by incumbent CAF President Patrice Motsepe getting retained as CAF President.

Kurt Okraku became the latest top Ghanaian football administrator to be voted to CAF’s Executive Council; former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi served on the powerful body.

Football legend and President of Cameroon’s Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, was voted to the CAF Executive Council.

Reacting to his new role, Kurt Okraku pledged to use his new position to promote African football via his Facebook page,

“I am honoured to serve Ghana, WAFU, and CAF, and I pledge to work tirelessly to promote the development of African football and contribute meaningfully to the game across the continent. To the entire football fraternity in Ghana and across Africa, thank you for your continued support, belief, and love for the game. This accomplishment is as much as yours as it is mine.”

GFA President Kurt Okraku

“To the members of the Executive Committee of WAFU, Presidents of WAFU B, and all members of WAFU and CAF, I thank you for your trust and confidence in me. I look forward to working closely with each of you to develop and promote African football.”
