The 2025 Inter-Schools and Colleges Athletics Competition (CAC), held across Kumasi and Cape Coast, concluded last week with electrifying performances that showcased the depth of talent in Ghana’s secondary schools.

Mfantsipim School, St. Louis Senior High School, and Prempeh College emerged as standout victors, reinforcing their legacies as athletic powerhouses.

Amid the celebrations, Ghana Athletics President Bawa Fuseini offered a compelling insight into their success, attributing it to the pivotal role of school leadership.

2025 Inter-Schools CAC: “In school sports the headmaster’s interest in the Sports is paramount, when the Headmaster has the interest, that’s when the P.E teacher can operate” –

“In school sports, the headmaster’s interest in sports is paramount.”

For Mfantsipim School, the boys’ championship title at the 33rd Central Region Super-Zonal event marked their fourth consecutive victory, a feat sealed with 116 points.

The school’s sprinter, Joseph Andoh Kwoffie, dazzled spectators, clinching gold in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, and 4x200m events.

His record-equalling run in the 110m hurdles and a celebratory Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired “suui” gesture on February 28 earned roars from the crowd and praise from national sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah.

“Joseph is a talent we’ve been watching,” Fuseini added. “He’s on our radar for the 2026 African Championships.”

In Kumasi, Prempeh College defended their boys’ title with a commanding performance at the Ashanti Region Super-Zonals, outpacing rivals like Opoku Ware School.

As the dust settles on the 2025 CAC, Fuseini’s words resonate beyond the podiums.

With plans underway for a National Inter-Schools Championship, the success of these institutions could set the stage for Ghana’s next generation of global athletes—provided their headmasters keep the flame of sports burning bright.
