Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has seemingly blamed missed scoring chances from his team on the tense atmosphere in his team’s Ghana Premier League game against defending league champions FC Samartex 1996.

Kotoko drew 1-1 with Samartex at Samreboi in a game that had Kwame Opoku score his sixth goal in seven GPL appearances since returning to the Porcupine Warriors.

However, Kotoko’s Dauda Saaka and Isaac Mintah missed big chances to score and give Kotoko the win and Dr. Ogum believes that the high level of tension surrounding the game affected the players’ goal scoring technique.

“I’m not happy about it because if you look at both chances, I think they were chances that, if you look at their (Mintah and Saaka’s) level, their pedigree, they should have scored but then if you look at the game, it was a tensed game and normally when players become tensed, sometimes their technique execution is also affected” Dr. Ogum said.

Despite the draw, Kotoko maintain its lead atop the standings with Accra Hearts of Oak and Bibiani Gold Stars losing to Dreams FC and Aduana Stars respectively.
