Former Black Stars defender John Paintsil expressed how delighted he was to have the English Premier League Trophy in Ghana.
The title for winning what is widely regarded as the best football league in the world, has been brought to Ghana as part of a series of events to engage fans of the competition across the globe.
In partnership with Guinness Ghana, the trophy arrival event had Paintsil, fellow former Black Stars and EPL defender John Mensah and National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah headline the program.
Speaking at the event, Paintsil reminisced his time in the league while competing for Leicester City, Fulham and West Ham.
“I am very happy to at least witness this (trophy) feeli feeli (in person); even when I used to play in England, I never got close to it and now it’s in Ghana. I am happy that the trophy is in our motherland…I will say this trophy has brought a lot of memories to me once I’m sitting here, I am being emotional. Premier League is football” Paintsil said.
