On the floor of the Ninth Parliament in the Fourth Republic of Ghana on Wednesday, March 19, Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, called on Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, to be firm particularly in his dealings with Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.

He said this as Ghana prepares to play against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 respectively in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking after the Sports Minister’s address to Parliament, the Education Minister who owns Ghana Premier League side Karela United Football Club, lamented the Black Stars’ recent struggles that includes failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON while calling on Kofi Adams to be firm in his attempt to rectify this situation.

“The Black Stars Mr. Speaker have failed to win in their last six matches. That is not the Black Stars of Ghana but there is something fundamentally wrong and Minister (Sports), interference with the Association Football, there will be limitations but you have to be firm, you have to be very very firm in your dealings with it.”
