“2010 World Cup is still in our brains and we want to recreate that” – Kamaldeen Sulemana

Ghanaian and Southampton forward Kamaldeen Sulemana says the current Black Stars squad is determined to give Ghanaians good footballing memories.

The national team has come under heavy criticism in recent years, with disappointment peaking after the team failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

But a more positive turn came during the recent international break, as Ghana secured back-to-back wins over Chad and Madagascar in the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

In Ghana, football means everything, there is no sport like football. We eat and drink football, and everything is football. So when we do play for the national team we always want to fight and do our best for our country he said speaking in an interview with Showmax

Sulemana believes the squad is motivated to restore national pride and rekindle the spirit of 2010—a tournament many still consider the high point of Ghana’s modern football era.

We have seen the likes of Essien and Asamoah Gyan achieve great things for Ghana on the biggest stage at the 2010 World Cup, and that is still in our brains and we want to be able to recreate that he added

Ghana will resume its World Cup qualifying campaign in September, traveling to face Chad on September 1, followed by a home match against Mali on September 8.
