Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pinned his team’s heavy loss to Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League on his team falling short on counter attacks.

Kotoko lost 3-0 to Accra Lions at the Accra Stadium in a midweek clash with Lions scoring twice in the first half; Kotoko have two losses and four draws in their least six away games in the league.

Speaking in the post-game interview, Dr. Ogum commended his team for playing well but reflected on the game’s plan going awry after conceding on the counter attack.

“We lost the game on counter attacks. If you look at the two first half goals that they scored, they were all out of counter attacks. We were trying to create the opportunities to score and out of that we let loose some of their players which resulted in the goals.”

Kotoko have slipped from first place to third place after recording two straight draws and a loss to Lions; the Porcupine Warriors have 47 points while Bibiani Gold Stars lead the league with 50 points. Kotoko take on city rivals and second placed side Nations FC on Sunday, April 20 at 15:00 GMT.
