Wolverhampton Wanderers boosted their Premier League survival hopes with a thrilling 4-2 win over an underwhelming Tottenham Hotspur side at Molineux, deepening the pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou made six changes to the team that drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in their Europa League quarter-final first leg, a gamble that backfired just days before the crucial return leg in Germany.

Wolves took advantage almost instantly, going ahead inside two minutes.

Rayan Ait-Nouri capitalized on a poor punched clearance from Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario to drive home from the edge of the box.

The hosts doubled their lead comically in the 38th minute when Marshall Munetsi’s header was pushed by Vicario onto teammate Djed Spence and into the net for a bizarre own goal.

Spurs pulled one back through Mathys Tel just before the hour mark after a defensive mix-up from Nelson Semedo, but Wolves responded swiftly.

Ait-Nouri outmuscled Cristian Romero and set up Jorgen Strand Larsen for a simple finish, with the Norwegian scoring in his fourth consecutive Premier League match.

Richarlison’s close-range goal in the 86th minute gave Spurs brief hope, but substitute Matheus Cunha sealed the result in stoppage time after Lucas Bergvall was dispossessed in midfield.

The win moves Vitor Pereira’s Wolves to 16th on the table, 14 points clear of the relegation zone with six games to go, while Tottenham remain 15th and have now suffered 17 defeats this season—leaving Postecoglou’s future increasingly uncertain.
