Ghana’s Emmanuel Mensah has been named as the Man of the Match Award winner following Ghana’s 1-0 win over Senegal at the 2025 CAF Under 20 AFCON competition.

The 19 year old left footed player scored the game’s only goal in the 14th minute when he swept the ball into the net off an assist by forward Jerry Afriyie.

Mensah, who lined up as a left wing back, pushed up field as Ghana pressed high up the pitch to defend a throw-in with the ball eventually finding Afriyie who found the advancing Mensah for the finish.

This marks the second game in a row that a Ghanaian player has picked up the Man of the Match Award; Hakim Sulemana scored the individual award in Ghana’s 1-1 draw with D.R Congo in the opening round of games.

Sogndal IL player Mensah, was substituted in the 78th minute for Andrews Adjabeng with the win over defending champions and pre-tournament favourites Senegal moving Ghana to second place in Group C with four points.
