Spintex Knights Basketball Club co-founder, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, has welcomed the heightened level of competition whenever teams play against the reigning champions of the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the lead up to the big clash against Nungua Coldstore at 18:00 GMT on Saturday, May 7 at the El-Wak Stadium.
Aside praying for rains to not interrupt the big clash this weekend, Dr. Antwi laid out his expectation on the level of competition from Coldstore.
“Everybody comes to play against us with their best and over a long period of time I think…every team put in their best effort to play against us. The competition we welcome it and the competition is higher this season” he said.
Knights have won back to back ABL titles including last season’s championship triumph that had them beat Coldstore to the title.

The 2024 title winning campaign was sealed after Knights became the first Ghana side to reach the Elite 16 stage in the NBA backed Basketball Africa League before missing out on qualification to the latter stages of the continental championship.
