Athletic Bilbao and Ghana forward Inaki Williams says he is happy to win the African Player of the Year Award in the Spanish La Liga.
Williams bagged the award after the just ended 2024-2025 season ahead of players like Nigeria’s Chidera Ejuke who plays for Sevilla.
The 30 year old Williams played 50 games in all competitions with 35 appearances coming in the league where he bagged six goals and eight assists.
Winning this year’s award improves the Black Stars forward’s tally to two after scooping the prestigious prize at the end of the 2023-2024 season and Williams is aiming to make it three wins in a row.
“Winning an award like this always means you’re doing things right. I’m so happy and proud that I’ve won it two years in a row…hopefully I can make it three. It’s a real honour to be able to represent our roots in some way, it’s a real honour to be able to represent our roots in someway, to give visibility in a league that’s so special.”

“I hope African players keep making a strong impact in La Liga because we’re all doing a great job” Williams said.
