Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, have lost their final friendly game ahead of their participation in this year’s Women’s AFCON.

The Black Queens lost 3-1 to Nigeria in the last of three friendly games before the AFCON commences on July 5. Ghana’s head coach, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, is expected to name his final squad for the competition on July 1.

Ghana trailed 3-0 to Nigeria after 51 minutes including a converted penalty in the 44th minute before Alice Kusi’s consolation goal in the 88th minute.

The loss is Ghana’s first in three friendly games prior to the continental championship which runs from July 5 to July 26 in Morocco and has 12 nations set to compete.

Ghana beat Malawi 3-1 in a win that had Black Queens forward Doris Boaduwaa score a hat-trick and followed it up with a 4-2 win over Benin.
