The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will officially kick off on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and end on the weekend of May 23/24, 2026.

This scheduling is in line with the FIFA international calendar and ensures that all elite domestic competitions conclude before the start of the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which takes place from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The decision forms part of the GFA’s efforts to maintain a synchronized football calendar with FIFA’s global schedule, giving players, clubs, and other stakeholders a clear roadmap ahead of the international showpiece.

As was the case in the 2024/25 season, Premier League matches will be played predominantly on Sundays, with midweek slots reserved for outstanding games and rescheduled fixtures to ensure a smooth flow of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the GFA’s Ordinary Congress has been scheduled for August 12, 2025, where final plans for the season will be confirmed and key updates across Ghana football will be addressed.

The early confirmation of dates is expected to help clubs plan adequately for preseason, transfers, and logistics ahead of what promises to be an exciting new campaign.
