GPL: Accra Lions Relegation confirmed after loss to Dreams FC

Accra Lions Football Club’s run in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) has come to an end after the club’s relegation was confirmed.

Lions 2-0 loss to Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in the penultimate round of the 2024-2025 season with the result condemning Lions to the Division One.

The loss was Lions’ 16th in the campaign that had them register nine wins and eight draws in the lead up to the final game of the season.

Lions take on Bibiani Gold Stars to round up its campaign in the league at Bibiani’s Dun’s Park on Sunday, June 8 at 15:00 GMT.

Gold Stars are in contention to win the GPL title as the new league leaders with 60 points ahead of Nations FC who abandoned their game against Basake Holy Stars. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Earlier this season, Accra Lions transferred young left full back David Oduro to FC Barcelona’s Junior team in a headline move.

Nsoatreman FC and Legon Cities have also been relegated from the GPL with Hohoe United, Techiman Eleven Wonders and Swedru All Blacks replacing them for the 2025-2026 season.
