“TWIN WARRIORS”: Kotoko, Hearts of Oak deliver mirrored performance in just ended GPL Campaign

Archrivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, have delivered the latest form of their rivalry by posting very identical performances in the just concluded Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign.

The 2024-2025 GPL season had Bibiani Gold Stars win the title for the first time but the GPL heavyweight duo under delivered for the third straight season.

Kotoko finished in fourth place with Hearts of Oak coming in fifth place in the season ending standings; Nations FC missed out on winning the title after losing 2-0 to Kpando Heart of Lions on the final day.

Beyond ending the season with the same points (58), Kotoko and Hearts had the same number of wins (16), drawn games (10) and losses (eight) respectively.

After a four game winless run leading to Abdul Karim Zito taking over as head coach, Kotoko ended the season with a loss in six games while Hearts of Oak on the other hand, won four games in a row to close out the season.

Kotoko get the chance to compete for another title as the Porcupine Warriors take on Golden Kick in the MTN FA Cup Final on Sunday June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
