Ghana’s Black Queens are riding on a high wave after progressing to the quarterfinals of the CAF Women’s AFCON for the first time since 2016.

The Black Queens beat Tanzania 4-1 to finish second in Group C behind defending champions South Africa in the ongoing CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Despite losing 2-0 to South Africa in the opening, the Black Queens improved their performance to make it to the knockout stage.

Ghana will play against Algeria in the quarterfinals of the championship on Saturday, July 19 at 16:00 GMT with the winner scheduled to play against the winner of the game between Morocco and Mali.

Host nation Morocco are aiming to return to the finals after finishing second in the last edition while Mali would be familiar for the Queens after the teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the group stage.
