South Africa National Women’s head coach Desiree Ellis says she is happy with her team’s result against Ghana despite missing out on the chance to score more goals.
2024 CAF Women’s AFCON defending champions South Africa beat Ghana 2-0 in its opening game of the tournament that is being held in Morocco.
South Africa scored both goals in the first half but missed out on a couple of chances to increase its tally prompting Ellis to highlight her team’s profligacy in a post-game interview where she stated that,
“They [Ghana] hit the crossbar. We could have gone 3-0 up and when Linda [Motlhalo] got a chance, we could have gone 4-0 up. We are happy with the result.”

South Africa take on Tanzania on Friday, July 11 at 19:00 GMT with a win guaranteeing their qualification to the next round.

Ghana on the other hand, take on Mali on July at 16:00 GMT after Mali beat Tanzania 1-0 in the opening round of games.
