Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale has been confirmed as the headline performer for this year’s GHALCA President’s Cup, scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The highly anticipated event, which features the classic Super Clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, will also welcome the presence of President John Dramani Mahama, who is expected to grace the occasion and personally present the trophy to the winning team.

The President’s Cup, organised annually by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to honour the sitting president, is marking its 17th edition this year. Ghana’s two most successful clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

This year’s fixture holds added excitement as entry to the stadium will be free of charge, an initiative designed to ensure football fans from all walks of life can partake in the country’s biggest club rivalry.

In addition to the football action, fans will be treated to a live performance from Shatta Wale, one of Africa’s biggest dancehall acts.

President Cup Trophy to be given to the winner of the clash

Known for his electric stagecraft and crowd-pulling appeal, Shatta Wale is expected to thrill fans at halftime and after the final whistle with a string of his popular hits.

His inclusion as the headline act adds a fresh entertainment layer to the already rich football tradition, reinforcing the President’s Cup as not just a football match, but a festival of Ghanaian sport, music, and culture.
