Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has praised his team for delivering an outstanding performance to grab its first win in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON.
Ghana beat Tanzania 4-1 to clinch its first win in the competition and progress to the quarterfinals where the team is scheduled to take on Algeria on Saturday, July 19 at 16:00 GMT.
Speaking in a post-game interview after the emphatic win, Bjorkegren reflected on Ghana’s progression to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2016 stating,
“I am just really proud of the girls. Today, we followed the game plan a little bit more. Ghana missed the knockout stages the last time that they played [in 2018 at home] and we have now made it past the group stages. The result is very important to us. They showed that they can stay true to our style and win.”

Ghana forward Doris Boaduwaa is expected to return to action after missing out on the Tanzania game to suspension.
