23 of the world’s billionaires are black people and wealth magazine Forbes provided a breakdown of these individuals’ wealth which amounts to a combined sum of $96 Billion as of April, 2025.
Four of the members in this list are athletes with three of them being connected to the sport of basketball and the premier league of the sport, the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Six time NBA Champion Michael Jordan famously of the Chicago Bulls and former owner of NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets, leads the list with a fortune of $3.5 billion with his wealth mainly coming from royalties from sneaker manufacturing company Nike. Jordan also sold his majority stake in the Hornets sale which was valued at $3billion in 2023.
Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson is widely regarded as the best point guard in NBA history and has turned his fame on the court to amass a fortune worth $1.5 billion by investing in the Star Bucks franchise and other ventures. He is worth $1.5 billion.


Golf star Tiger Woods comes in with a fortune worth $1.4 billion and his wealth is heavily off endorsement deals mainly with Nike and career earnings from dominating the golf course.


Former Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat star LeBron James checks into this list with a fortune of $1.3 billion. James is playing active basketball with the Los Angeles Lakers and has made more than $900 million from endorsement deals and investment in business ventures such as the Fenway Sports Group that owns sports clubs like Liverpool FC and Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
