Manchester United woes deepened further on Wednesday, August 27 as the Red Devils suffered a shocking exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town FC.

Ruben Amorim’s poor run at the helm of the club continued following the very surprising second round elimination at the hands of a club that compete in the fourth level of English football.

Man United fought back to draw 2-2 to force the game into a penalty shootout that ended 12-11 in favour of the home side.

Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren scored for Grimsby Town in the 22nd and 30th minutes respectively to the utter shock of the Man United fateful.

However, a late surge got Man United back even as substitute Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire scored in the 75th and 89th minutes respectively.

In the ensuing kicks, Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s hands weren’t strong enough as a handful of efforts from Grimsby went off his hands into the net but Mbeumo’s attempt came off the crossbar to give Grimsby the win and send the packed base into utter delirium.
