Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has delivered a scathing review of his team’s performance in a shock loss to English League Two side Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils lost 12-11 in a marathon penalty shootout to exit the competition in the second round in a very disappointing fashion.
The game ended 2-2 with Man United having to claw their way back from a 2-0 first half deficit with under fire goalkeeper Andre Onana heavily complicit in the shambolic first half performance.
Despite scoring the first of Man United’s goals, substitute Bryan Mbeumo had his second penalty kick come off the cross bar to send Grimsby through to the third round of the tournament.
In his post-game interview, Ruben Amorim was utterly disappointed with the result and more importantly the performance of his side stating,

Tonight] I think the best team won, the only team that was on the pitch. I think the team and the players spoke really loud today, so that’s it.The way we start the game without any intensity, we were completely lost” he said according to the BBC.

Man United turn their attention to the English Premier League where they are set to line up against Burnley on Saturday, August 30 at 14:00 GMT. Amorim’s team have just a point from two games played this season.
