The 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament will now be staged at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon instead of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The change follows recommendations from pitch maintenance consultants Green Grass Technology, who advised that the Accra Sports Stadium; currently the only CAF/FIFA-approved venue in Ghana should be reserved exclusively for the Black Stars’ upcoming World Cup qualifier against Chad on September 8.

According to Green Grass Technology, the timing of the GHALCA Top 4, which was set to run close to the Black Stars’ camping schedule, could have left the pitch in poor condition ahead of the qualifier.

The Black Stars are expected to begin camping in Ghana on August 31 before travelling to Chad for their away tie on September 4.

A post-match inspection of the pitch after the Homowo Cup final on August 17 highlighted the need to protect the surface.

The GHALCA Top 4; seen as the traditional curtain-raiser to the Ghana Premier League season will now kick off on Wednesday, August 20, at the UG Stadium in Legon.
