Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has pledged that Sudan’s National Men’s Football Team will improve ahead of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Appiah, who is the head coach of Sudan, said this in the wake of the country’s 1-0 loss to Madagascar in the semifinals of the CHAN.
The CHAN is a continental championship where only African players who compete in their national leagues are eligible to compete and had Sudan defy expectations by making it to the final four with the chance to win the bronze medal on Friday, August 29 in a game against Senegal.
Having led war-torn Sudan to qualify to the AFCON at the expense of his homeland, Ghana, Appiah assured that Sudan will improve for the upcoming tournament.

“This tournament gave us, first and foremost, an opportunity to win matches and compete. We have four players in the senior team who will join us in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.”

“We will work to ward off the specter of defeat and improve our performance in the future” Appiah said to CAF.

Morocco take on Madagascar in the CHAN final on Saturday, August 30 at 15:00 GMT.
