Manchester United legend and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked from his role as head coach of Turkish Super League side Besiktas.

Norwegian Solskjaer had been in charge of the Turkish club since January, 2025 and guided them to a fourth place finish in the league. It was his first head coaching job after his dismissal from the same position at Manchester United two seasons prior.

The sacking comes after Besiktas lost 1-0 to Swiss side Lausanne at home to miss out on qualifying to the Europa Conference League via a 2-1 aggregate loss.

His sacking was announced less than an hour after the loss to Lausanne. Swiss side Lausanne FC is owned by Man United backed INEOS.

Besiktas released a statement a few minutes after the game that confirmed Solskjaer’s sacking with the release stating,
