Newcastle United’s want-away striker Alexander Isak has taken a big shot at the club as controversy over his future at the club continues.

The Swede is angling for a move to Liverpool per reports but has had to endure a frustrating phase as Newcastle remain dug in on their stance to not sell him.

Addressing the issue publicly for the first time, Isak took to social media to speak on his absence at the PFA Premier League Awards where he missed out on winning the top award to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah but ended up making it to the Team of the Season.

“I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn’t feel right to be there. I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events.”

“The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these are only emerging is misleading. When Promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue” he said.

Isak scored in Newcastle’s win over Liverpool to clinch the Carabao Cup and secure the club’s first ever domestic trophy in 70 years. He wasn’t part of the Newcastle team that drew goalless with Aston Villa in the opening round of the 2025-2026 season.
