After seven games, Chad’s National Men’s Football team, have picked up their first points in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after drawing 1-1 against Ghana.

The draw came on the back of an 88th minute goal from Celestine Ecua via a big deflection on a speculative shot to cancel Jordan Ayew’s goal in the 17th minute.

The first point for Les Sao coincided with the team’s first home game in six years after being forced to play away from home over the nation’s lack of a stadium fit to host such international games.

The recently built Stade Olympique Idriss Iton, which has a seating capacity of 30,000, hosted the matchup that was largely played out in a drab manner.

Ahead of the game, Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, slammed the playing surface as unfit saying that it felt like playing on concrete.

Despite the draw, Chad rank bottom of Group I with just a point in seven games while Ghana lead the way with 16 points. Chad take on Madagascar next on September 8.
