Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says drawing with Chad in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played on Thursday, September 4 was a “missed opportunity”.
Ghana drew 1-1 with Chad in a game the Black Stars dominated but had its lead via a Jordan Ayew tap in goal in the 17th minute cancelled by Celestine Ecua’s shot off a deflection in the 88th minute.
Had Ghana beaten Chad, the Black Stars would have established a six point lead over its next opponent Mali ahead of the crucial game between the two teams on Monday, September 8 at 19:00 GMT in Accra.
Speaking in the post-game presser, Otto Addo blamed the astro turf in N’Djamena as a major reason for the Black Stars poor performance and made the aforementioned description about the game against Chad stating, (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“To be honest, if you look at the goal attempts, ball possession, shots on the goal, the big chances, it’s a missed opportunity but this is football.”

“We have to think about Mali, we have to forget about the game [against Chad]…we have to look forward and we have to beat Mali.”
