In an attempt to bolster his midfield ahead of a crucial game against Mali on Monday, September 8 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has handed a late call up to Kwasi Sibo.

The 27 year old central midfielder who plays also as a defensive midfielder’s call up to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team was confirmed on Thursday, September 4.

It comes in the aftermath of Ghana’s disappointing 1-1 draw with lowly ranked Chad in Group I to miss out on extending its lead in the race for next year’s World Cup that takes place in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Sibo, who has been on the books of English side Watford while playing on loan for clubs like UD Ibiza and Amorebieta, has largely impressed for Real Oviedo who recently gained promotion to compete in this season’s Spanish La Liga.

He has played in all three league games for Oviedo; Sibo played out entire duration in games against Villarreal and Real Madrid and played 18 minutes in Oviedo’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.
