Swedish striker Alexander Isak has officially joined Liverpool for an English Premier League record fee of 125 Million Pounds from Newcastle United.

Isak’s six year deal with the Reds could rise to a fee of 130 million pounds should he meet certain clauses in the contract that was finalized in the final hours of the main transfer window that closed on Monday, September 1.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad player had a brilliant campaign in the 2024-2025 season helping Newcastle United win the Carabao Cup by beating Liverpool 2-1.

He scored in the win at Wembley to give Newcastle’s their first domestic trophy win in 70 years while being named to the PFA Team of the Year after scoring 23 goals in 34 league games despite having a slow start to the campaign while recovering from injuries.

His move to Liverpool came with a lot of controversy as his camp and Newcastle exchanged strong worded statements in the heat of the transfer process.

Speaking in his first interview as a Liverpool player, Isak stated that he was happy the episode was over so he can get back to work.

“It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work” Isak said to Liverpool media.
