Liverpool striker Alexander Isak finally made his debut for the club after completing an English Premier League transfer from Newcastle United.

The Swedish striker joined the reigning EPL champions for 125 million pounds with add-ons on a six year deal after protracted transfer discussions with Newcastle that had its fair share of animosity.

Isak didn’t train with the club or participate in any pre-season game and hadn’t played for Liverpool even after completing the move until this evening when he played 60 minutes in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking after the win, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was impressed with Isak’s level of fitness considering the former Real Sociedad player’s inactivity.

“In the 60 minutes he played he seemed to be quite fit to me. It wasn’t as if after 10 minutes he was already very tired.”

“He could play at this level quite well after one or two weeks of team sessions.”

“So that was the thing and he can play football and that he’s a joy to watch and that is not a surprise to me. He was fitter than I expected. We have two great number nines and we’re going to use both of them throughout their career here” Slot said according to the BBC.
