Swansea City delivered another big shock in the 2025-2026 Carabao Cup by dumping English Premier League side Nottingham Forest out of the competition. League Two team Grimsby Town eliminated EPL side Manchester United in the second round.
The Welsh club beat Forest 3-2 with Swansea scoring two goals in the 93rd minute through Zan Vipotnik and Cameron Burgess in the 97th minute to take the win.
The late goals completed a brilliant comeback for Swansea who trailed 2-0 to score the big win; Forest’s Igor Jesus scored twice in the 15th and 46th minute to give his side a big early lead.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC after losing his second game in a row since taking over as Nottingham head coach, Ange Postecoglou called on his team to improve while ruing the missed opportunity to qualify.
“I just thought it was a game we really should have killed off long before it got to the stage that it did.”

“I think the lads got a bit comfortable in that moment and you’ve got to know the warning signs… and thought the game would finish off easily but that’s not what happens, particularly in cup football.”

“Players just thought it would naturally finish that way and we’ve paid a heavy price for that. We need to improve” Postecoglou said.
