Napoli SSC head coach Antonio Conte has praised former Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund for scoring on his debut for the Italian club.

Hojlund recently completed his move to Napoli after struggling in two seasons at Old Trafford where he was expected to blossom into the club’s next great striker after excelling in the Italian Serie A as a teenager for Atalanta.

Hojlund scored Napoli’s second goal in a 3-1 win over Fiorentina in his first game for the defending Italian Serie A champions. Ex-Man United shot stopper David De Gea manned the post for Fiorentina.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the win, Conte joked that Npaoli signed Hojlund from Man United after seeing fellow ex Red Devil Scott McTominay dominate the league after moving to Italy while praising Hojlund.

“We signed Hojlund to replace Romelu [Lukaku], who will be out for a long time.”

“Hojlund is only 22 years old, we got him from Manchester United, seeing as it brought us luck doing that with [Scott] McTominay. We knew his qualities, he has great potential and can improve. You can see he’s a lad with great prospects” Conte said.
