Ghana midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana’s year-long loan deal move from Atalanta to fellow Italian Serie A side Bologna has been confirmed.
The move was finalized on the final day of the main transfer window that closed on Monday, September 1; Sulemana’s loan deal comes with the option to buy for Bologna.
In a related move, Atalanta have signed AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah; the American international who is of Ghanaian descent, has joined Atalanta under similar conditions as Sulemana’s loan deal.
Sulemana has spent his professional career in Italy after spending time at Verona’s junior team and playing under legendary coach Claudio Ranieri at Cagliari prior to joining Atalanta. In the 2024-20the 25 season, he scored two goals in 10 appearances for Atalanta.

In the official statement announcing Sulemana’s signing, the 22 year old was described as a “central midfielder who is able to shoot to well from distance, he is a dynamic player, physically strong and possesses great substance.”

Sulemana is with Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali on September 4 and 8 respectively.
