Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has suggested that Ghana’s next generation of Black Stars should be built around the players of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Soccer Team.
According to him, the UDS squad has proven its quality after achieving an unprecedented feat on the international stage and deserves to form the nucleus of the country’s senior national team in the future.
“A big congratulations to the University of Development Studies for this remarkable achievement,” he said. “You have indeed brought honour and dignity to Ghana once more.”

The lawmaker’s call comes in the wake of UDS’ inspiring run at the World University Games, where the Ghanaian side stunned top opposition to reach the final and etched their name in history.
UDS, representing Ghana and Africa, defeated Paulista University of Brazil 2-1 in the final to clinch the prestigious title, marking a monumental achievement for university football in the country.
The Ghanaian side was dealt an early blow when Gabriel Viera struck just 30 seconds into the game.
But UDS showed resilience, with captain Mohammed Sulemana grabbing a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time.
In extra time, Ezedeen Alhassan produced a moment of brilliance, scoring directly from a corner to complete the comeback and ignite wild celebrations.
