The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to the University for Development Studies (UDS) for their remarkable triumph at the World University Football Championship in China.

Earlier in the competition, the GFA had applauded UDS for reaching the quarter-finals and urged them to chase the ultimate prize, a challenge the team has now accomplished with determination and skill.

As Schools and Colleges are part of the Association, football at all educational institutions falls under the GFA’s structure.

According to the GFA, they have been closely following UDS’s journey and supporting their participation at the global tournament.

In preparation for the championship, the GFA provided UDS with essential football kits and also made the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram available for a residential camping programme.

“We are immensely proud of UDS for this historic achievement. Your victory in China underscores the quality and potential of Ghanaian football at all levels. It also affirms the importance of investing in grassroots and tertiary-level football to build a strong foundation for our national game,” the GFA said in a statement.

The Association further assured that it will continue to collaborate with Schools and Colleges to identify and nurture talents capable of representing Ghana at the highest levels.

The GFA congratulated the players, technical team, management, and stakeholders of UDS for their exceptional feat and encouraged them to keep raising the bar for university football in Ghana and beyond.
