Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has shed light on the non-involvement of Thomas Partey and Ibrahim Sulemana in Ghana’s game against Chad.

Ghana drew 1-1 with Chad in N’Djamena with the Black Stars conceding in the 88th minute to miss out on a sixth straight win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Group I.

Partey and Sulemana didn’t compete in the game that had Ghana players particularly those in midfield visibly tired and Otto Addo in a pre-game presser stated that Partey’s illness and Sulemana’s injury restricted what he could do with his substitutions.

“I was a little bit restricted to be honest. I know a lot of players were tired on the bench. Talking to Thomas [Partey] at half time during the match…he said I don’t feel like I can bring intensity.”

“He had stomach problems so I couldn’t bring him in and Sulemana was injured so I was little bit restricted” Otto Addo said.

Sulemana has since left camp to Bologna for an injury assessment. Ghana take on Mali on Monday, September 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
